Job Description

Seeking individual to work on-site in the facility to maintain all computer needs.

The Information Technology Manager works under the general supervision of the Campbell Count Fiscal Court’s Information Technology Director as well as the Chief Deputy at the jail and is responsible for voice and data technologies, software applications and the information technology annual budget for the Campbell County Detention Center.

In addition, supports and maintains the Detention Center’s client hardware and software systems, responsible for routine requests, managing projects, building and modifying applications in-house.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Detention Center technology systems;
  • Establishes Detention Center standards for informational technology systems and usage;
  • Assists in managing Detention Center vendor relationship and vendor contracts related to hardware, software, and IT services;
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements voice and data technology strategies, to include, performing software and application development, installation, and upgrades;
  • Provides support and technical assistance, investigates user problems, identifies causes, determines solutions, tests and implements solutions for end-users on computer related matters;
  • Recommends the selection and acquisition of hardware, software, and IT-related services and equipment;
  • Develops and administers instructions and/or conducts training for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assists users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems;
  • Provides recommendations to the Jailer on potential IT solutions that will enhance Detention Center operations and/or services and identifies opportunities for improvement in technology tools;
  • Manages multiple projects and implements enterprise technology strategies;
  • Supervises, evaluates, plans work objectives, establishes priorities and/or corrective actions for the Detention Center IT systems; ensures completion of routine and ongoing IT support functions;
  • Assists in maintaining backup/restore and disaster recovery preparedness;
  • Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties;
  • Maintains proficiency in all relevant hardware and software technologies;
  • Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network;
  • Documents network problems and resolutions for future reference;
  • Installs computer hardware and cabling to support new users and/or systems;
  • Maintains inventory of all installed and spare hardware; maintains inventory of all software;
  • Assumes and performs/responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

  • Knowledge and experience with multi-server network environment (Microsoft/Linux/Citrix), LAN/WAN, Fiber optic and Cisco/HP networking, MS Exchange Server, MS SQL, VMware Vsphere/Microsoft HyperV, IBM AS/400, and Thin client multi-user application.
  • Ability to understand and apply knowledge of network concepts, techniques, and principles;
  • Knowledge of computing and networking hardware and peripheral equipment;
  • Knowledge and understanding of physical and virtualized networks;
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer systems and equipment problems
  • A+ Certification or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software;
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications;
  • Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with outside vendors and to establish and maintain effective working relationships;

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, or other job related field, plus five years of experience planning, designing, developing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining information technology systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Project management experience is preferred.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license.
  • Ability to bend, stoop kneel, and sit for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry servers, workstations and other IT Equipment;
  • Ability to climb and work on a ladder to mount equipment and/or run cabling.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
