GENERAL NATURE OF WORK
This is a skilled position in the Detention Center. It is a sworn, law enforcement position with arrest powers. An employee in this position is responsible for the supervision of inmates working on the road crew. Work is performed under minimum supervision.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Maintain a crew of Class D inmates for work outside of the Detention Center.
2. Keep records for hours worked by the Road Crew for payment.
3. Maintain a safe working environment for the Road Crew.
4. Keep close observation of each inmate while working.
5. Ensure inmates do not come in contact with the general public.
6. Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed by all crewmembers.
7. Ensure that no crewmember brings any contraband into the Detention Center.
8. Conduct thorough strip searches of all crewmembers before returning them to their respective cell.
9. Maintain a line of communication with the Jailer and Chief Deputy as to any special details or projects to be completed.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
2. Must be an American citizen.
3. Must be able to read and write the English language.
4. Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
5. Must reside in the Commonwealth of Kentucky within six months after hiring.
6. Must successfully complete a criminal, medical history, and employment background check.
7. Must be able to successfully complete sixteen (16) hours of Department of Corrections training each year.
8. Must possess good communication skills.
