Course Description:
The Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planner’s Workshop is designed to provide COOP training for Continuity Planners at the Federal, State, Territorial, Local, and Tribal levels of government, as well as for private and non-government organizations. Federal Continuity Directive (FCD) 1 directs the Federal executive branch departments and agencies and offers guidance for nongovernment and government personnel in developing COOP Plans and Programs. COOP Plans facilitate the performance of essential functions during any situation which may disrupt normal operations. The goal of this workshop is to provide you with the tools and hands-on experience necessary to improve the overall quality and workability of your departments’ or agencies’ Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans. Class will be begin at 9:00 a.m. ET and conclude at 1:00 p.m. ET each day.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to (1) Correctly recognize the background and policy regarding continuity that affects development of continuity plans for reference in plan development; (2) develop a strategy to create a continuity plan using available requirements, guidance, and tools; (3) Recognize and incorporate all the key elements of a viable continuity capability into an outline for their continuity plan; (4) Explain the four phases on continuity and relate their application to the continuity planning process in your organization; and (5) recognize factors that affect plan maintenance and distribution strategies based upon factors identified through best practices, requirements and guidance.
Student Criteria:
This course is recommended for all Federal, state, territorial, local, and tribal government employees as well as for private and non-government personnel responsible for managing a Continuity of Operations (COOP) Program.
Prerequisites include:
• IS-546.a - Continuity of Operations Awareness and IS-547.a Introduction to Continuity of Operations; or IS-1300 Introduction to Continuity of Operations

PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to find your course completion certificates, a transcript from EMI will be accepted as proof of completion. You may request a transcript from EMI at the Independent Study website (https://training.fema.gov/IS/). Once completed, copies of your course completion certificates must be provided on or before the beginning date of class. Individuals who present themselves for training without having provided the required documentation will not be admitted as a student to the class.
Special Notes:
A MINIMUM OF 20 ADVANCE STUDENT REGISTRATIONS IS REQUIRED AND MUST BE RECEIVED BY JANUARY 5, 2021. A maximum of thirty (30) students will be accepted for this course. The registration process includes:

• Completion and submission of the FEMA 119-25-1 Student Registration Form; and
• Submission of copies of the prerequisite documents.
