Course Description:
This course is designed to provide guidance to SAR Incident Commanders, county SAR Coordinators and other search managers on best practices and techniques in conducting SAR interviews for lost, missing, and overdue persons. Information provided as to what type of questions to ask, why can’t law enforcement do it, why is interviewing so important, post incident interviewing and other aspects related to conducting interviews. This course will provide classroom instruction, critique of actual SAR interviews and exercising on how to conduct SAR interviews. This course is not intended for the entire squad and needs to be limited to only those personnel with responsibility of conducting interview(s). Entire course will be conducted in a web-based/virtual classroom environment. Class will be from 9:00am until 4:00pm EST (There will be a break during the training to allow for participants to get lunch on their own).

Student Criteria:
This course is open to all Emergency Management, Rescue, Fire, and Law Enforcement personnel or any search managers having responsibility for conducting interview(s) for lost, missing, or overdue persons. You must be at least 18 years old to register for the course. Students must attend both days of training and successfully pass a written examination at the conclusion of the course. Virtual attendance will be monitored. A score of at least 70% must be achieved on the final examination to successfully complete the course.

Special Notes:
Advance student registration is REQUIRED and must be received by October 22, 2020 or until the class is full.   Registrations are limited to 50 participants. Only one student may participate per registration. You are considered registered for this course once this office receives your electronic registration. An electronic registration email confirmation will be sent upon registration completion. Letters acknowledging registration will not be sent.
