Course Description:
HazMatIQ First Responder Offensive training incorporates the “Above the Line /Below the Line” system, while instructing First Responders on safely entering the Hot Zone to attempt a rescue and/or preform recon of the event. This 8-hour course incorporates its own set of HazMatIQ Smart Charts, which aid in the decision making process, emphasizing the use of the Stay Alive Five Meters, found in the SAFe Kit (Radiation, multi-gas, temperature gun) and Reagent Papers (pH and F papers) to assure their safe entry into the Hot Zone.
Train First Responders on the HazMatIQ FRO Smart Charts
Provide training on transportation containers, for both highway and railway
Provide training on the SAFe Kit. a. These meters provide valuable information for the entry
team; evaluating the presence of flammable gases/vapors, oxygen concentration, temperature
change, radiation and the life threatening presence of fluorine
Trains responders to use the NIOSH Guide
Student Criteria:
This course is open to all Emergency Management, Rescue, Fire, Health, Environmental, Emergency Medical, Law Enforcement personnel or any organization having responsibility for a hazardous materials incident.
Special Notes:
Students are required to bring face mask and hand sanitizer. Students will need to be seated in accordance with health official’s recommendation of 6 feet apart. Thermometers may be used for student’s temperature upon arrival. Instructors and facilitators will visually observe and assess all attendees throughout the event. Attendees displaying signs or symptoms of illness upon arrival will not be allowed entry, reentry or participation in training event. Advance student registration is REQUIRED and must be received by August 1, 2020 in order to participate in this course. Meals, lodging, and travel arrangements/expenses are the responsibility of the student and will NOT be reimbursed by KYEM unless otherwise noted.
