COURSE TITLE: Prevention of and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents (PRSBI) (PER-231)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This four (4) hour PRSBI course focuses on understanding the history and threat of suicide bombing to the United States as well as suicide bomber methodologies. The course guides first responders through the Nine Phases of a Bombing Incident as they relate to suicide bombers (beginning with bomber recruitment) with interdiction opportunities presented at every phase. First responders are provided with information on Suicide Bomber Improvised Explosive Devices (SBIEDs), SBIED component recognition, and delivery methods. Additionally, first responders are presented with the tools to recognize a suicide bombing threat and countermeasure planning tools to prevent and/or mitigate the effects of such an attack. This information enables first responders to return to their organizations and maximize efforts and planning for suicide bombing threats.
PARTICIPANT CRITERIA: Public Safety (specifically law enforcement and fire), HazMat Teams, EMS, Transportation Agencies, local emergency planners, pertinent federal and state agencies, and other community stakeholders.

SPONSORSHIP: This Course is sponsored by the Campbell County Office of Emergency Management and the Kentucky office of Homeland Security. This course is delivered by New Mexico Tech instructors. Course delivery and materials funding is provided by The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
