Course Description:
BatteryIQ offers a straightforward approach to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to comprehend, recognize, and effectively respond to battery related incidents. From minor incidents involving cellphones, tablets, or electric scooters to more significant failures such as those involving electric vehicles, this course provides comprehensive training. Quick Reference Guides are provided to enable officers to swiftly and efficiently respond to battery-related emergencies, taking into account the type of battery and the severity of the incident. Special attention is given to the proactive measures Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers can employ to ensure their safety and that of the public during such incidents. Additionally, the course addresses the unique challenges faced by these officers, including handling laminated safety glass, managing battery devices as evidence, and effectively mitigating incidents without the requiring evacuation.
Student Criteria:
This course is open to all Emergency Management, Rescue, Environmental Response, Public Health, Fire, Emergency Medical, Law Enforcement personnel or any organization having responsibility for responding to a hazardous materials incident.
Special Notes:
Advance student registration is REQUIRED and must be received by August 15, 2025 in order to participate in this course. MAXIMUM # of students seats are 30. Meals Lodging, and travel arrangements/expenses are the responsibility of the student and will not be reimbursed by KYEM unless otherwise noted.
