Welcome to the Campbell County Occupational License Office!

We are responsible for the collection of the Occupational License Tax within Chapter 110 of the Campbell County Code of Ordinances. Every person, association, corporation, or other business entity engaging in an occupation, business, trade, or profession is required to file and pay occupational license tax. Business activity includes rental property, sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations. The Occupational License Office is the tax collection and licensing agent for Campbell County and the cities of Alexandria, Cold Spring, Ft. Thomas, Highland Heights, Melbourne, Southgate, Wilder and Woodlawn.

Please Note!

Beginning 2024, our current Campbell County Payroll Withholding rate of 1.05% was broken out into 3 separate rates with differing wage caps.  All employees working in Campbell County should be withheld for all 3 rates. Please see our Tax Rates schedules below, under Tax Tables and Reference.

Requests for proposals are released to the public each December in coordination with Boone and Kenton County Human Services to provide a cohesive application for all three counties. The Human Services representatives from all three counties work closely together throughout the year to fully assess the needs of Boone, Campbell, and Kenton County residents by developing the request for proposal, analyzing submitted proposals, reviewing monthly reimbursement summary requests and quarterly narrative reports, monitoring funded agencies, and serving on various community boards and committees.

AJ Jolly Golf Course

AJ Jolly Horse Trails

AJ Jolly offers approximately 20 miles of trails for the citizen or visitor looking to enjoy a day out on the horse. The partnership between the Campbell County Fiscal Court and Northern Kentucky Horse Network allows for the continued preservation of land and development of an extensive horse-trail network.

The Campbell County Environmental Education Center encompasses over 50 acres and allows visitors to experience field, forest, and wetland habitats. The center has two main walking trails for visitors to explore.

The state of Kentucky was pushing to improve its public park systems during the late 1950s. A Campbell County public park was voted to be established on November 16, 1959 by the Campbell County Fiscal Court. A five-person board was appointed by the county judge executive, Andrew J. Jolly, Jr, to provide, conduct, and maintain parks, playgrounds, and recreation centers in the county. A vote for a bond approval allowed six new state parks to be built, along with the building of a dam for the construction of the AJ Jolly lake. The golf course opened on June 28, 1962, along with a bridle path and stable with 15 horses. The rest of the park was open to the public in 1963. A park extension was announced and the fiscal court voted to rename the county park to "AJ Jolly Park" in honor of the former county judge.

All fees are non-refundable. We accept cash, check and credit card. There will be a bank fee associated with using the credit card option of either $2.50 or 3% of the fee being assessed whichever is greater.

NOTE: If work is started without the appropriate permit, all fees will be doubled.

The City of Alexandria Zoning is now being managed by Campbell County Planning, Zoning & Building Department. All zoning inquiries and permit submittals should come through this office as of 3/01/2023. Code Enforcement concerns will continue to be handled by the City at this time.

How to Sign-Up for Residential Trash Service

Campbell County does not provide pick-up or drop-off services for household trash.

FIRST:
If you live in a subdivision or planned neighborhood, find out if there is a Homeowners Association for your community.  Often, the HOA contracts trash service for the neighborhood.

SECOND:
If you do not have a Homeowners Association, contact your city.  Cities usually manage garbage service for incorporated areas.  Click here for a list of city contact numbers.

THIRD:
If you live in an unincorporated region and not in a city, you are free to contract waste removal with any hauler that you prefer.  Curbside recycling is available for select households in unincorporated Campbell County on a subscription basis. Please call Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171 to see if your household is eligible. Campbell County also offers a Public Drop-Off Recycling Program where residents gather recyclables at home and drop them off at designated recycling sites in the community.

Our Purpose

The CCEPA is a non-profit corporation, created in 1982 to aid in the acquisition, retention and development/redevelopment of land for industrial and commercial purposes. It is made up of a diverse and experienced eight-person Board of Directors whose goals are executed by its President.

Southern Campbell County Industrial Park

To accomplish our mission listed above, the CCEPA owns and actively markets industrial land, The Southern Campbell County Industrial Park (SCCIP). The Industrial Park is directly off of US-27 near Campbell County High School. The current industrial user within the SCCIP is Hillshire Brands/ Tyson Foods.

Preference: First Residency

Reason or Cause: Head of Household, Spouse, or Sole Member lives or works in Campbell or Pendleton County, Kentucky

Documentation Required:

• Lease agreement, Utility bill, Pay stub, Piece of first class mail

Preference: Second Residency

Reason or Cause: Head of Household, Spouse, or Sole Member lives or works in one of the following Kentucky counties: Kenton, Boone, or Bracken OR the following Ohio counties: Hamilton or Clermont

Documentation Required:

• Lease agreement, Utility bill, Pay stub, Piece of first class mail

Residency preference verification must be current at the time it is selected on the pre-application (dated within the month of application) and at the time eligibility is determined (dated within the month of the applicant family’s eligibility appointment) or, for lease agreements, including the months of the family’s pre-application submission and eligibility appointment. Generally, only one type of documentation is required. The agency reserves the right to request additional verification. You will be required to verify your preference was valid in the month you applied and in the month of your eligibility appointment.

Preference: Veterans

Reason or Cause: Head of Household, Spouse, or Sole Member is an honorably discharged Veteran.

Preference: Elderly

Reason or Cause: Sole member if household is age 62 or older.

Documentation Required

• Birth certificate, Baptismal certificate, Driver’s license, Census records, Official records of birth or other authoritative document(s).

Preference: Disability

Reason or Cause: Any member of the applicant family listed on the pre-application has a disability.

Documentation Required:

• The PHA’s Certification of Disabled Status form completed by a physician, medical professional, or other reliable source as defined in the PHA’s administrative plan documenting the family member meets HUD’s definition of disability (contact your representative at the PHA to obtain).
• Paperwork documenting benefits are received due to disability (i.e. Social Security Administration).

Generally, only one type of documentation is required FOR EACH preference claimed. Preferences claimed on the pre-application must be current on the date of pre-application and at the time eligibility is determined. Updates to preferences can be reported by the applicant family, in writing and within 10 days, while a family is on the waitlist. For example, if a family moves to an area that makes them eligible for the residency preference while they’re on the waitlist, they may report the change to the agency to claim the preference, or, if a sole applicant turns 62 while they’re on the waitlist, they may report the change to the agency to claim the preference. If an applicant family has claimed a preference that is not verifiable or for which they are not eligible they will be returned to the waitlist without the preference listed. You must verify your preference was valid in the month you applied and in the month of your eligibility appointment.

Pendery Sports Park

The 72-acre Pendery Sports Park offers an array of sporting facilities to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts- 8 baseball fields, 1 NBA size basketball court, 6 soccer fields, and a three-quarter mile walking trail. In addition, the park offers 5 picnic shelters with tables for you and your family to enjoy a fun-filled day of activities.

Current Police Department Employment Opportunities:

The Campbell County Police Department maintains an open hiring process for: Recruit Police Officers, Lateral Police Officers, School Resource Officers, Police Social Workers, and Administrative Positions.  Interest Forms are accepted year-round.

For all positions, please complete the CCPD electronic interest form and save as a .pdf document, submitting as described on the interest form.  You will thereafter be notified of next phases in any process.

Recruit Police Officer: Persons interested in recruit positions must have a High School Diploma or GED and must be 20 years of age.

Lateral Police Officer: Lateral candidates must possess or be able to obtain certification by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.  Candidates with police service in states other than the Commonwealth may be considered for lateral entry, provided they meet the Basic Training requirements as set forth by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.

School Resource Officer (SRO): Candidates must be Kentucky certified police officers who are retirees of the Kentucky Retirement System. Applicants will be required to go through a KLEC compliant background investigation and required training courses.

Police Social Worker (PSW): Applicants for PSW must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other social science related field supplemented with 3 years’ experience in the area of social science. Or, Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other social science related field with 2 years’ experience in the area of social science. Or, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Campbell County households can get four (4) free vouchers to dispose of household trash throughout the Program Year (July 1 – June 30). Vouchers are valid upon receipt until the end of the voucher period. Guidelines and restrictions apply.
Households impacted by recent storms and flooding may be eligible for additional vouchers.

Voucher Period 1 = July 1 – December 31 | Voucher Period 2 = January 1 – June 30 

• Residents can get two (2) vouchers each voucher period.
• Applicants must provide proof of Campbell County residency.
• Examples: valid driver’s license or photo ID, utility bill, deed, or lease.
• Vouchers are good for one truckload or one 8-ft trailer load. If stacked, pile must by under 3-feet tall. Additional expenses are the responsibility of the resident.
• Accepted: household trash, furniture, mattresses, yard waste, and home renovation debris.
• Not Accepted: hazardous waste, tires, appliances, electronics, and liquid waste.
• Rumpke has the right to refuse any item.

Flood Damage Survey
Campbell County residents and business owners whose primary properties sustained storm or flood damage are encouraged to complete the information below to request a Damage Survey.

Eligible damages to report include:
• Flood-damaged vehicles (interior or engine)
• Cracked or shifting home foundations
• Roof damage from wind, fallen trees, or heavy rain

Trash Voucher Program Covers Flood Cleanup Costs
To support flood-related cleanup, Campbell County is offering free, unlimited trash vouchers to households impacted by the disaster. Valid through June 30, 2025, each voucher allows residents to dispose of one pickup truckload or 8-foot trailer load of debris—stacked no more than 3 feet high—at no cost to the resident.

Accepted debris includes:
• Drywall and insulation
• Carpeting and rugs
• Furniture
• Tree limbs and yard debris
• Bagged household waste

Not accepted: electronics, tires, appliances, hazardous waste, or liquids. Residents may be charged for unapproved items. Rumpke reserves the right to refuse noncompliant loads.

Campbell County offers a variety of FREE events throughout the year to help residents properly dispose of household waste in an environmentally responsible manner.

Campbell County residents can recycle the following items year-round at the Campbell County Transportation Center:

• Washing/Drying Machines

*Place all refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners in the correct section. A company comes to remove the Freon from these items so it is helpful if they are all together.

Please check in with the receptionist by entering the set of doors by the flagpole.

Participants are required to unload their own vehicle. Televisions are NOT accepted.
